Your privacy matters

At Hippo Haven, trust is at the heart of everything we do.

From your first Hippo Haven Visit to every interaction in our app, we're committed to treating your personal information with the same care and respect we'd expect for our own family.

We only collect information that helps us deliver a better experience, we never sell your personal data, and we'll always be clear about how your information is used.

Privacy has been considered from the beginning, not added as an afterthought.

What we collect

We only ever ask for what helps us prepare properly for your family. Depending on how you use Hippo Haven, that may include:

  • Your name and contact details, including email address
  • Your due date or your baby's age
  • Your children's names, where you choose to share them
  • Photos, only if you choose to add them
  • Vehicle details, so we can fit car seats correctly
  • Notes from your Hippo Haven Visit
  • The products you loved and your purchase history
  • Your Hippo Haven account details

Why we collect it

Your information lets us give you a calmer, more personal experience:

  • To understand your family and tailor your Hippo Haven Visit
  • To fit car seats safely and check products suit your car and home
  • To keep your consultation notes and favourites for you in the Hippo Haven app
  • To arrange your handover and complete any purchase
  • To keep in touch about your appointment

We rely on your consent, on carrying out our service to you, and on our legitimate interest in running Hippo Haven well, as the lawful bases for using your information under UK data protection law.

The Hippo Haven app

The app is simply how your Hippo Haven Visit continues after we've left. It keeps, in one private place:

  • Your consultation notes
  • The products you marked as favourites
  • Your appointment history
  • Your handover details
  • Your purchase history

This information is tied to your account and is there for you, whenever you're ready to return to it.

How we keep it secure

Protecting your information is fundamental to Hippo Haven. We use modern security practices to safeguard your personal information and regularly review our systems to help keep your data secure.

Sharing your information

We never sell your personal data. We only share information with trusted providers who help us deliver the service, such as processing a payment or fulfilling an order, and only with what they need to do that. Our brand partners are never given your personal details.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or for as long as the law requires. When it's no longer needed, we securely delete it. You can ask us to remove your information at any time.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct anything that's wrong
  • Ask us to delete your information
  • Ask us to restrict or stop using it
  • Ask for your information in a portable format
  • Withdraw your consent at any time

To exercise any of these, just get in touch. If you're ever unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can also contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
